Looking for a QuickBooks Self-Employed alternative?
If you've tried to sign up for QuickBooks Self-Employed lately and ended up somewhere else, you're not imagining it. Here's what Intuit says, and where MiniCFO.io might fit.
What Intuit says
In its help center, Intuit says current QuickBooks Self-Employed subscribers can keep their subscription. New customers are encouraged to "check out our other product options, such as QuickBooks Solopreneur." Intuit also says the QuickBooks Self-Employed mobile app hasn't been available for new downloads since March 24, 2024.
What moves when you switch
Intuit's article on switching to QuickBooks Solopreneur lists quarterly tax estimates and rules as data that "will be supported for migration in the future," so they aren't part of the automatic switch yet. It also says tags, vendors, and third-party app integrations can't be switched over.
For many solo operators, that quarterly tax number was the main reason they opened the app.
Where MiniCFO.io fits
MiniCFO.io is a simple AI financial assistant for busy mobile service businesses. It isn't made by or affiliated with Intuit. It covers the basics a lot of people used QuickBooks Self-Employed for:
- Tax set-aside estimate card with a quarterly due-date card (countdown and balance) and Mark as Paid (an estimate, not tax advice)
- Mileage log for trips between jobs
- Receipt scanning and quick income/expense logging from your phone
- 6-month cash flow projection so slow months don't surprise you
Works side by side with QuickBooks
If you or your bookkeeper still use QuickBooks, MiniCFO.io can import and export QuickBooks files, and you can export everything to CSV. Many people keep their books where they are and use MiniCFO.io for the day-to-day.
Built by someone who does this for a living
Tyler, MiniCFO.io's founder, is an assistant controller by day. He built MiniCFO.io for people who'd rather be on a job than in a spreadsheet.
